Generosity

Do you tell yourself this lie: I would be generous if I had more to be generous with? Money does not make a person more generous. Instead, your ability to influence others through your generosity helps you become rich beyond your wildest dreams.

I have two teenage boys, Miguel and Sebastian, who are athletes of influence. Miguel is a second baseman, and Sebastion is a running back. They are courteous, respectful, and kind. I know this is not the teenage norm for many today. Every time they volunteer to help others, they appreciate what they have. They think about the circumstances affecting the people they are helping. My ability to influence them as a parent increases when they understand what we have as a family. This is such a gift. The impact I have on them is compounded by their generosity to others.

Living is giving. Abundance should not be self-centered, only living a life of luxury. Abundance should create a calling to help others live. Giving just four hours to mentoring a child per month will not only empower the child but will empower his future family and even grandchildren. Your generosity will inspire.

I know you have probably been thinking of helping someone or a cause.  Cutting a check is not emotionally fulfilling. Giving online with a credit card is usually done alone, in front of a computer or on an app. The App can't hug you back! Holding a hand to lift someone up or creating a smile where there is despair feeds your soul.

Today, go to your local market and buy three cans of fruit, three cans of vegetables, and three cans of hearty soup. Then, drop it off at a local homeless shelter. Go inside and meet those you are helping. Next week, look for a local charity to get involved with. Ask friends about those in need. It may be them! Finally, pick an event to volunteer for with that charity, place it on your calendar and follow through.

Doing these things will immediately erase the Why Don'ts. You will fuel your purpose and become more at peace. Look into the eyes of those you are helping. You are influencing them with your generosity. Every time you think of these moments, your ability to influence yourself grows exponentially, enhancing your ability to influence others.

Become generous and move on from your regular life into an inspiring one.
