Bloom Wherever You Find Yourself
A person of Influence does not surrender to their existing circumstances but makes current circumstances surrender to them. Life's journey places us on many peaks and valleys throughout our lives. Bloom by shining internally and projecting this to others around you.
Waking up can be challenging these days. So many of us find ourselves in the wrong place, not where we want or are meant to be. We believe this myth is created by the stories we tell ourselves. "I can't believe I have to deal with this today. I am angry already." "My boss is keeping me from achieving my true potential, or my co-workers are impossible to deal with."
One of my clients felt they were spiraling down an abyss. They were not where they expected to be, and the roadblocks before her were impossible to overcome. I told her about a conversation with my father in college. I wanted to get into law school, but the hurdles were high, and I felt I could not speak the correct "law' language to succeed. I felt like a fish out of water in a foreign land. He laughed, placed his hand on my shoulder, and reminded me I was born in the land of opportunity. The opportunity has to be imagined, created, and pursued. "I was truly a fish out of water in a foreign land. Imagine being exiled at 44 years old, not speaking English, and having no clear path to a career with a wife and kid on the way. He laughed again. I did not let these minor things affect my ability to bloom where I found myself. I was grateful to have the opportunity to achieve anything I wanted to."
After hearing my story, the client asked more about my family's struggles and forgot about her dilemma. Instead, she was inspired to do more, realizing she had many more tools than my father. Her abyss became a puddle, and this inspiration helped her influence those around her.
Find inspiration by talking to others about their challenges and experiences. Become grateful for being alive and healthy today. As long as you are above ground, you can bloom. Let positive interaction with others help guide your purpose and actions.
